In fact, as the business world becomes increasingly data-driven, there is a serious concern that the data science skill gap will continue widening and the supply of data scientist career talent won\u2019t be able to catch up to the industries\u2019 demand. Reports like Glassdoor\u2019s 50 Best Jobs consistently named Data Science the winner in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what does it take to become a\nData Scientist in 2020?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 3rd<\/sup> consecutive year, our friends at 365 Data Science asked the data and collected their findings in a detailed annual report.<\/a> To give you the best perspective possible, they went through the different takeaways and compared the results to the previous years\u2019 surveys (2018<\/a> and 2019<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 365 Data Scientist Profile 2020 is based on the publicly available data in the LinkedIn profiles of 1,001 currently employed junior, expert, and senior data scientists worldwide. 40% of the data comprises data scientists based in the United States; 30% are data scientists in the UK; 15% are currently in India; and 15% come from a collection of various other countries. In terms of company size, 50% of the sample work for a Fortune 500 company; the remaining 50% apply their expertise in a non-ranked company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
